I recently discovered a vital addition to my optometry practice: Sterling. As a major in the U.S. Army, where I was the medical director of eye care services for a hospital, I received quite a bit of organizational training in addition to my clinical expertise. However, I didn’t have Sterling’s practice management expertise, and my practice is now filling with quality patients.

You wouldn’t tell an MBA, “today you are going to be an optometrist – now go for it!” Likewise, why expect an optometrist to understand the details of running a business. These are different “hats.” As an owner I have responsibilities for the performance of the practice; these are very different from my responsibilities as the medical professional.

During my first complementary phone consultation with a Sterling consultant, I realized the practicality of Sterling’s system. I have now learned to monitor precisely those key statistics that show the state of my practice. Working with my consultant, we develop step-by-step plans to improve those areas that need a boost while keeping the others at high levels.

Sterling also taught me how to motivate and keep the best staff. Early on, Sterling came to my practice to help get all my staff on the same page. Before this we really weren’t thinking and operating as a group. My staff are wonderful, we just didn’t have all the tools. We’ve now established clear ways of measuring everyone’s production and instituted a bonus system so staff can share in the profits. This also gives them more responsibility and leaves me more time to spend with patients.

I love working with people, this includes contributing to my staff and empowering them to take care that every little thing is just right. As well, my practice is committed to staying on the forefront of eye care technology and vision wellness. This includes contributing to the community by providing the highest quality of life for my patients and their families. Implementing a clear management system makes it possible to achieve these goals.

If you are interested in improving your office and creating a great working environment with responsible staff, then I encourage you to call Sterling at 800-933-7538 or click here now for your free practice management DVD and no obligation, complimentary consultation. This single action was my first step toward stability and prosperous expansion.
